Safety assessment
A pre/post feeding-trial comparison of hematology (CBC) and serum chemistry biomarkers, quantified into a Safety Score that combines reference-range deviation and rate-of-change scoring.
What we measure
CBC
- WBC
- RBC
- HCT
- Hb
- MCV
- MCH
- MCHC
- PLT
Serum chemistry
- Albumin
- ALP
- ALT
- AST
- Total Bilirubin
- BUN
- Creatinine
- Glucose
- Cholesterol
- Triglyceride
- Na
- K
- Cl
- P
- Ca
Clinical observation
- Body weight
- Appetite
- Behavior
- GI events (vomiting, diarrhea)
Study design
- Animals
- Minimum 4
- Duration
- 4 weeks (1-week adaptation + 3-week test diet)
- Sampling
- Baseline at D-1, terminal at D-29
Methodology
Reference-range deviation score and rate-of-change score are computed in parallel; the lower of the two is taken per biomarker for a conservative posture. Clinically critical biomarkers (Hb, HCT, Albumin, ALP) carry a weight of 2.
